About VortexForge

VortexForge is a numerical simulation app that models tropical cyclone genesis, structure, and evolution. Based on simplified CISK (Conditional Instability of the Second Kind) and WISHE (Wind-Induced Surface Heat Exchange) mechanisms, the app allows you to explore how key environmental parameters influence cyclone development.
Adjust four critical parameters: Sea Surface Temperature (26-31°C), vertical wind shear (0-20 m/s), atmospheric humidity (40-100%), and latitude/Coriolis force (0-30°N). The simulation dynamically displays typhoon structure through plan-view concentric circles (eye, eyewall, spiral rainbands) and cross-section profiles showing temperature anomalies and cloud top heights.
Track the typhoon path influenced by subtropical high steering flow and observe intensity evolution across categories from Tropical Depression to Super Typhoon. A landfall simulation mode demonstrates rapid weakening when the storm loses its warm water energy source.
