About The great tapestry of Scotland

Explore the Great Tapestry of Scotland in greater detail with audio tours and a trail just for kids.

Swipe to choose one of three trails then use the exhibition floorplan map to guide you to each of the featured panels. When you reach each panel on the trail, follow the instructions to discover more.

There are three trails in the app:

A Short History of Scotland

Narrated by Alistair Moffat, writer of the tapestry’s narrative, this trail takes visitors through key moments in Scotland’s history focussing on 30 of the 160 tapestry panels.

QR codes along the trail enable visitors to access rich soundscapes and see some panels in more detail.

Stitchers’ Stories

This tour allows the visitor to hear some of the stories behind the panels, the details that the stitchers incorporated and their inspirations for doing so.

Stitch Seekers

A fun children’s trail encouraging them to look closely and scan the tapestry panels to find hidden objects stitched in them.. When they’ve collected all the objects, they can use them to create and share their own tapestry.
