What Gist does not do: it does not reproduce article text — summaries are short neutral paraphrase, and the source name and outbound link are always shown so credit goes to the original outlet. It does not ask you to log in. News is US-region for now. Supported by non-intrusive ads; ad personalisation uses Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers per Google's Privacy Policy.

Privacy: Gist collects no personal data and has no account system. Your bookmarks, read history, chosen sections, theme, reading streak, daily-quiz progress, and reminder time are stored only on your device, and recently-viewed stories are cached on your device so you can read them offline. The app reads news cards from a public, read-only service. Card images are loaded directly from the news outlets' own servers, so those outlets may see your device's IP address when an image loads — standard for any app that shows web images.
