About Picta · Nonogram Puzzle

Picta is a nonogram game — also known as griddlers, hanjie or Japanese crosswords. The numbers along each row and column give the blocks of filled cells. Work them out, and a picture appears.

▬ Never a guess
Every grid is checked by a solver that may only reason the way you do: line by line, never assuming. If it cannot finish a grid without guessing, the grid is thrown away. That is the one complaint players have about this genre, and here it is settled by construction.

▬ Difficulty that means something
The level tells you what you will have to work out, not how big the grid is. A 10×10 can be harder than a 15×15 — Picta measures the reasoning each grid demands instead of guessing from its size.

▬ Made for one thumb
Drag to fill a whole run: the axis locks, so a wandering finger never ruins a line. A stroke is one undo, not fifteen. Pinch to zoom on the larger grids, and the numbers stay pinned to the edges where you can still read them.

▬ Two ways to play
Free mode says nothing — a wrong square stays until you notice it. Assisted mode refuses wrong squares, at the cost of one of three mistakes. You choose for each grid, not once and for all.

▬ Yours alone
Plays entirely offline. No account, no sign-up, no leaderboard. Your progress lives on your device and nowhere else.

▬ Every day, and endlessly
A daily grid, the same one for everyone. A journey from 5×5 up to 20×20. And an endless mode that generates as many grids as you care to solve — the content never runs out.

Available in most major languages.
