HARSH REALITIES OF LIFE

Harsh realities of life is basically the challenges, persecution, trials, sufferings, difficulties, oppositions and the like that people face at different stages of life. Every phase of life has its own struggles. Overcoming these challenges or struggles in life places someone in a higher level, to face a new set of struggles. Some struggles can be lack of job, financial problems, community hardship, jailing sometimes, abuse of every kind, threat to life in some cases. Failing to overcome some of these challenges in a particular phase of life leads to a carry-over or a lagging behind in life. Some of the symptoms of these failures can be frustration, heart ache, poverty and the like. Our reactions to these struggles or challenges depend on our level of success.

As believers in Christ, we cannot escape persecution. Persecution can be seen as the unfair or abusive treatment toward a person or group of people, it may lead to calling a person rude names and making threats.

But do not be discouraged because John 15:18 says “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you”. Revelation 2:10 added by saying “Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. This is an encouragement to believers because we carry inside us Christ, the light of the world which tends to expose deeds of darkness. People of the world will not embrace us because we have the truth, the devil (prince of the world) is working hard to ensure believers are not accepted so as to draw more people to Christ.

bring on board the lost souls through evangelism, mentorship and discipleship.
