Astronomy is the science of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets and galaxies) and phenomena that occur outside the Earth’s atmosphere (such as sunshine and cosmic radiation). It focuses on evolution, physics, chemistry, meteorology and the motion of celestial bodies, as well as on the formation and development of universes. Translated from the Greek astronomy is the "law of the stars." Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences.

What does Astronomy study?
Astronomy is the science that studies the structure of the universe. She studies the location, movement, physical nature, origin and evolution of celestial bodies and systems. The fundamental properties of the Universe surrounding us are also the subject of astronomy study. More specifically, astronomy studies the sun and other stars, planets and their satellites, black holes, galaxies and nebulae, quasars, asteroids, and more. Astronomy is a science that is designed to explain incomprehensible phenomena occurring in the Universe and explaining our life.

What sections does astronomy consist of?
Astronomy as the science of the universe currently includes several sections:

Astrometry. She studies the movement and location of space objects.
Heavenly mechanics. This section defines the mass and shape of stars, is studying the laws of their movement under the influence of the forces of aggression.
Theoretical astronomy. Scientists engaged in theory, develop computer and analytical models of celestial bodies and phenomena.
Astrophysics. She studies the physical and chemical properties of space objects.
Archaeoastronomy. This section studies astronomical history and ascertains what cosmic knowledge existed in ancient times.

The basis of astronomy is observation.

Observing the Universe is a very complicated and laborious process, it requires attentiveness, regularity and concentration. Therefore, talking about the unit of measurement, as about meters and kilometers in astronomy, is simply impossible.

At the beginning of the XXI century, space themes about galaxies and aliens became very popular, unfortunately, very often very incompetent. The interest of journalists who do not understand space matters, the opinions of scientists based on unconfirmed facts, make many people believe in pseudoscientific discoveries.
