About Retro 3D Maze

Retro 3D Maze is a first-person maze that runs three ways: as a screen saver that walks the
corridors by itself, as a live wallpaper behind your home screen, and as a game you play. It is an
original tribute to the desktop screen savers of the mid-1990s — the ones that wandered a brick
corridor while nobody was watching.

SCREEN SAVER
Leave it running and the camera walks the maze on its own, turning at junctions, never quite
retracing its steps. Tap to leave.

PLAY
The same maze, but you are in it. A joystick to move, drag anywhere to look, and an exit somewhere
you cannot see. The heads-up display shows your time and how many cells still stand between you and
the way out. Solve it faster than last time and the record is yours.

WHAT IS IN IT
• Eleven maze algorithms, each with a character of its own and a plain-language description in the
app: recursive backtracker, Prim, Kruskal, Wilson, Eller, sidewinder, binary tree, hunt-and-kill,
rooms, braid and sparse braid.
• Five sizes, from an 8x8 you can hold in your head to a 48x48 you cannot.
• Five texture packs, every one of them drawn by the app at runtime rather than shipped as images.
• Or point it at any picture on your phone and the walls become that.
• A floor-plan map, a hint that points the way, and an autopilot that solves it while you watch.
• A best time kept separately for every algorithm and size.
• Rats in the corridors and rotating globes, both optional.
• A hidden word somewhere in the settings, the way the old ones had.

LIVE WALLPAPER AND ANDROID SCREEN SAVER
Set it as your wallpaper and the maze wanders behind your home screen. Set it as your Daydream
under Settings > Display and it takes over while the phone is docked or charging.

PRIVACY
Retro 3D Maze requests no Android permissions. Not one — including no internet permission, so it
cannot send anything anywhere even if it wanted to. There are no accounts, no advertising, no
analytics and no crash reporting. Your settings and your best times stay on your phone.
