The Western Peninsular Jacobean Pathways project, financed by INTERREG V A España Portugal (POCTEP), aims to identify and promote the cross-border Jacobean itineraries in a territory that includes the regions of Alentejo, the Centre of Portugal, the Municipality of Barcelos and the Spanish "Diputaciones" of Badajoz (leader of the project), Caceres, Cadiz, Seville, Cordoba, Zamora, Pontevedra, Ourense, Huelva, as well as the Junta de Extremadura.
The Alentejo Tourism Board is responsable for to marking of the cross-border connection of about 70 km the the Portuguese Way of St. James "Caminho Nascente" and the Portuguese Way, Caminho da Raia between Elvas, Borba, Vila Viçosa, Estremoz with Badajoz and the Via de la Plata, this project aims at signposting, boosting and enhancing the historical, landscape and cultural heritage of this territory in order to promote this variant and improve the traveller's experience.
