If you want to be part of an active, inclusive group of people dedicated to an active lifestyle, you have found it. GWTC’s mission is found in its bylaws:
The purpose of this club shall be to encourage health and fitness, especially through participation in jogging and running, whether for competition, physical fitness, or pleasure; to stimulate the exchange of information about health, fitness and running and to disseminate such information; and to encourage individuals to pursue opportunities to participate and compete in races and other fitness activities and to provide organized events in which interested individuals may participate.
The idea of course is great, but the implementation of our mission is truly an amazing production. GWTC is a volunteer organization with no paid employees. If you want to race, run or walk, there is something you will like. Our programs and activities are so numerous they are hard to list. The somewhat nutty folks at GWTC direct a Summer Trail Race Series (4 single-track trail races), a Summer Track Series (8 weekly track meets at Maclay School) and an Annual Club Race Series with 18 or more race events from 1 to 50 miles on all kinds of surfaces. There are Grand Prix competitions, social and educational events, and plenty of running opportunities for the whole family.
