About Recycled Pallet Crafts

Things You Can Do with Your Wooden Pallets - Wooden pallets are not usually made of the highest quality wood but they can be re used in a variety of ways, and save you a few bob and give you a sense of pride in your own bit of recycling craft work. Even if you don't have any pallets lying around, you could find a local company who will be only too happy to part with their pile of unwanted pallets and may even offer you some money for doing so. One word of warning, if you are going to use the wooden pallets for an outside project, you would be wise to treat the wood with some kind of protection.

Start from the corners by balancing two pallets carefully around the back corner. Use wood off cuts to give diagonal support across the corner, clamp the pallets together and make sure about the optimum use of resources. Cover any type of space by securing the pallets close to each other to make the shed weather proof.

The pallets can be easily sourced from any place near to an industrial estate. Make sure that you have enough to make a simple wall structure. It will be good if you have a large pallet for the rear wall and matching medium sized pallets for the front wall to give a beautiful effect to the whole shed. Scrutinize all pallets carefully and make sure that all pallets are about the same size. Remove pallets that have some structural defects. Instead of throwing your wooden pallets away, reuse them as an attractive coffee table, shelves, cupboards, chairs, sofa and bed bases and many other pieces of furniture for your home. Outside they can be used as decking, garden furniture even a swing chair. All that is required is a few nails and a hammer and possibly a saw. The slats of wood can be taken apart and reassembled or used just as they are. You need to be wary however, as these pallets are sometimes treated with harmful chemicals. It is wise to check where your wooden pallet has come from and what it was used for. Always thoroughly wash with soapy water and allow to thoroughly dry before using it in your home.
Wood Pallet Shed Plans - Building a shed with pallets is not as hard as it may seem, especially if you have a good set of wood pallet shed plans. We personally am a DIY do it yourself guy, so we was more than up for the challenge. The only problem was we had no idea where to start. We soon found that the task was next to impossible without some professionally designed shed plans. Following a set of plans reduced my costs and cut the time that it would have taken me to complete my project. We named this project Wood Pallet Shed plans because the plans are really what made this project a success.
Take supporting the goal of recycling one step further by not only reusing your scrap wood, but by using it with other eco-friendly goals in mind. For instance, you can build a compost bin for your garden or have the scraps ground for use as mulch for a flower bed or as an insulator for trees during cold weather months. Use scraps to make stakes for a garden or for supporting a newly planted tree. Build a birdhouse, a squirrel feeder, or a bird perch by using the scraps of a sturdy hardwood dowel.
