About the original The Cube

The Cube activity was originally developed by two Japanese psychologists, Tadahiko Nagao and Isamu Saito. These well-known psychologists also developed Kokology, a fascinating and addictive pop-psych quiz game that reveals fascinating truths about the real you.

The Cube is a Kokology game about self knowledge that is played by asking a person to imagine and describe a set of three to five objects. The game is usually played by two people. One person is designated as the narrator, and the other is the interpreter. Usually these roles are swapped after successful interpretation. The Cube is a way of understanding somebody’s personality based on the way they narrate.

While there are slight variations in the game from person to person, the game begins when the interpreter asks the narrator to imagine a scene, such as the desert, a room, etc. Then, the narrator is asked to place and describe a cube in the scene. Once the cube has been completely described, the interpreter asks the narrator to describe a ladder that is also placed in the scene. This process continues with flowers, a horse, and finally a storm. Once the interpreter has an understanding of the scene that has been described, he or she will assist the player in interpreting the scene.
