Geeni Smart Wi-fi Camera Guide - The Look 1080p Smart Wi-Fi Security Camera joins the Geeni family of smart home devices which also includes a selection of smart light bulbs and smart plugs. This small, flexible security camera delivered sharp 1080p video in our tests and was a snap to install, but its audio quality leaves something to be desired. it doesn't offer nearly as many features as our reigning Editors' Choice for affordable home security cameras, the even less expensive Wyze Cam Pan.

The matte black, puck-shaped Geeni Look camera housing is 2 inches wide, 1.2 inches thick, and sits atop a thin stem with a 2-inch round base. The rubberized stem can be bent 90 degrees in any direction to provide the best viewing angle, but if you do bend it make sure you use the included round adhesive pad to attach the base to the surface you mount it on, otherwise the camera will tip over. When standing upright, the camera is 4.4 inches tall.

The Look captures video at 1080p and has a 120-degree field of view. It uses an infrared LED to provide black-and-white night vision video, and has a microphone and speaker for two-way audio. The camera is equipped with an 802.11n radio for connecting to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and contains motion and sound sensors. A micro USB port on the base is used to power the camera with the included power adapter and 39-inch cable, and there's a reset button on the back. The Look will save motion- and sound-triggered video to your phone, and if you install a microSD card (not included) in the slot on the right side of the camera, it will continuously record video that you can view using the app's timeline.

The camera uses the same mobile app as other Geeni devices, such as the Lux bulb and the Spot plug. It opens to a home screen with that shows the local weather conditions and tabs for any active Scenes (Scenes allow you to control multiple devices with a single tap). Below these are tabs for each installed Geeni device. Tap the Look camera tab to open a live stream that can be viewed in full-screen mode by turning your phone sideways. Here you'll find buttons for two-way audio, manual video recording, taking a snapshot, and playing back recorded video. There's also an Alarm button that takes you to the Motion Detection Settings screen where you can enable/disable motion detection and set motion sensitivity. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner to enable sound detection and set sound sensitivity levels, format an SD card, update firmware, and check Wi-Fi signal strength.

The Smart Scenes button at the bottom of the My Home screen takes you to a page where you can create Scenes and Automations. Automations allow the camera to react to things like temperature, humidity, and sunrise and sunset times. You can also have it interact with other Geeni devices, but these integrations are limited. You can have a Geeni Spot plug turn on or off when the camera's sound or motion settings are enabled or disabled, but it won't react to sound or motion triggers, which would make more sense. The Notification Center button displays thumbnails of triggered events, and the Profile button takes you to a screen where you can manage your account information.
