About The Divine Pymander: Hermetic Creation & Salvation

This app includes the Divine Pymander (also known as Poimandres, Poemandres, or Poemander), a classic Hermetic sacred text and part of the Corpus Hermeticum. In this text, the sage Hermes Trismegistus receives revelations and visions from God as the Pymander, or Divine Mind and Shepherd of Men by which all things were created. The contents of the manuscript bear many fascinating similarities to the Creation story of Genesis, as well as to the nature of God the Father, Jesus Christ, the immortality of the soul, and eternal Life through Salvation as described in the New Testament. As in the Bible, God the Father is characterized by Light, Life, and Love, while the Logos or Word, Divine Mind, is named the Son of God who is One with the Father. Compare, for example, John 1:1-5. Likewise, God is also referred to as the Good Shepherd in the Bible. The Divine Pymander offers many rich possibilities for such comparative religious explorations. The text is translated here from the original ancient Greek into English. Perfect for scholarly study or meditation!

What is Hermeticism?
Hermeticism is a religious, philosophical, and esoteric tradition based primarily upon writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus ("Thrice Great Hermes"). It emerged in Late Antiquity, in parallel with early Christianity, Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, the Chaldaean Oracles, and late Orphic and Pythagorean literature. These writings have greatly influenced the Western esoteric and magical tradition, and were considered to be of great importance during the European Renaissance. Hermeticism claims descent from a "prisca theologia", a doctrine that affirms the existence of a single, true theology that is present in all religions and was given by God to man in primordial antiquity. Hermes Trismegistus is sometimes seen as a syncretism of the Greek god Hermes (Mercury) and the Egyptian god Thoth (Djehuty). He is also presented as a wise philosopher-sage and Egyptian priest.
