What is the Book of Revelation?
The Book of Revelation is also known as the Book of Revelations, Revelation of St. John, Revelation to John, and Apocalypse of John. It is the final book of the New Testament, and therefore also the final book of the Christian Bible. The book describes a series of prophetic revelations and sacred visions given to St. John the Apostle (or John of Patmos) by Jesus Christ and the angels. The work occupies a central place in Christian eschatology and gives an account of Christ's definitive victory over evil, as well as the dramatic events leading up to God's renewal of the Heavens and Earth. Its symbolic imagery has led to a wide variety of interpretations.
