A simple Counter tests the responsiveness of the person giving positive feedback
A simple Counter tests the responsiveness of the person suffering from dementia, while giving positive feedback.
They only have to concentrate on one big red button, to get the number to increase by one.
How long they take (with help) is a measure of their responsiveness.
They should be encouraged to try and guess the next number, before pressing the button.
Each press gives a pleasant beep as reward and they get to see if they are correct.
The carer can reset the counter by using the black button provided.
They can also adjust the sensitivity by adjusting the delay.
Pressing the delay button increases the wait time before the button can be pressed again by one second. So that it discourages the user from holding down the red button, as it does nothing.
As the persons dementia increases, the number the counter reaches before the user gets bored will decrease. This provides a way of measuring responsiveness.
