THE SIX FACTORS

A factor is one big question about a company, answered with data. There are six:

Valuation: is the price high or low for what the business earns?
Growth: are sales and profits growing, and how fast?
Profitability: how much of each dollar of sales does it keep?
Momentum: is the stock rising or falling lately?
Analyst Expectations: what do the pros expect, and which way is that moving?
Financial Health: could the company get through a bad year?

Each factor gets its own grade, so you see where a company is strong and weak: a good business at a high price shows strong Profitability and weak Valuation.

HOW THE SCORE IS BUILT

First, each measurement is compared with companies in the same sector, its broad line of business, because a bank and a software company have different normal numbers. Then the results are combined and ranked against every rated stock on a fixed 0-to-10 scale, so an 8 means the same in energy as in healthcare.

WHEN WE DO NOT KNOW

If any of the six factors cannot be measured, the stock gets no overall grade: still listed, never filled in with a guess. Every figure carries a tag saying where it came from: live from the market, estimated by a model, or set by hand with the reason shown.

A PRICE RANGE, NOT A PROMISE

Meridian Target forecasts where a stock's price might be at the end of this calendar quarter and the next four. It is a range, not one number: a middle estimate plus a band covering the middle 80% of outcomes the model considers likely. Without enough data, it says "not enough data." We claim no accuracy yet, so we measure the model in public: every forecast is stamped with its date and version and kept as written, and the results will be published either way.
