Kumayl’s supplication is one of the most famous and well-known supplications among the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt school (peace be upon them), and they are keen to recite it every Friday night, and on the night of the middle of the month of Shaban, according to the narrations contained in its virtue and its great impact on educating the soul, and because It contains many sublime meanings, and it is one of the most precious treasures, because it is full of doctrinal and educational lessons, and it strengthens in the believing person the spirit of servitude and turning to God Almighty.
It is the supplication of Al-Khidr (peace be upon him), and it was taught to him by the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him).
The scholar Al-Majlisi (may God have mercy on him) said about Kumayl’s supplication: It is the best of supplications, and it is the supplication of Khidr (peace be upon him). The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) taught it to Kumayl, and he is one of the elite of his companions.
The hadith scholar Al-Qummi (may God sanctify his pure soul) said about this supplication: It is one of the well-known supplications, and it is recited on the night of the middle of Sha`ban, and on the night of Friday, and it is effective in sufficing the evil of enemies, opening the door to sustenance, and forgiving sins. .

The reason for this supplication being attributed to Kumayl
Kamil bin Ziyad said: I was sitting with my master, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), in the Basra Mosque, and a group of his companions were with him.
Some of them said: What is the meaning of the words of God Almighty: “In it every wise matter will be decided”?
He (peace be upon him) said: “The night of the middle of Sha’ban, and by the One in whose hand is Ali’s soul, there is no servant except that all the good and evil that befalls him will be allocated to him on the night of the middle of Sha’ban until the end of the year on the same night as that coming, and there is no A servant greets her and supplicates with the supplication of Al-Khidr (peace be upon him), but I will answer (him).”
When he left, I knocked on him at night.
He (peace be upon him) said: “What brings you, O Kumayl?”
I said: O Commander of the Faithful, the supplication of Al-Khidr.
He said: “Sit down, Kumayl. If you memorize this supplication, then pray it every Friday night, or once a month, or once a year, or once in your lifetime, you will be protected, helped, and provided for, and forgiveness will not be lacking.”
O Kumail: Your long companionship has necessitated that we do what you asked for.”
Then he said: “Oh God, I ask you by your mercy that encompasses everything... and he mentioned the supplication.
