About Beyond LINUS - Fun With Sounds

Beyond LINUS - Fun With Sounds is our exciting new learn-to- read apps especially designed for the young readers and learners who are beginning to enjoy reading and learning. Built on the principles of systematic synthetic phonics, Beyond LINUS - Fun With Sounds takes advantage of interactive multimedia to make learning even more fun and stimulating.

This application can stand on its own as learning material. However, it is best put to use, as a complement to our Beyond LINUS activity books (Book 1 and Book 2) and multimedia-based learn-to-read programme, Phonics Fun. The contents in Beyond LINUS - Fun With Sounds apps, Beyond LINUS activity books and Phonics Fun are based on the phonics teaching guidelines drawn up by the U.K. Department for Education and meet the KSSR English requirements drawn up by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

Learning objectives:

- read out letters by their names and sounds: letter-sound relationship
- apply phonics skills to read: decode words
- apply phonics skills to spell: segment words
- identify the 6 types of syllables in words
- analyse the structure of words and parts of words, such as root words, prefixes, and suffixes
