About Lohkat: Reading Practice

Lohkat helps a child and parent practise reading together from a book they already have.

Photograph one page or choose a page image. Lohkat finds its visual lines without needing to recognise the words or know the language. Choose one line, let the child read it naturally, then let the parent read the same line. If part of the second reading sounds furthest from the first, Lohkat places a soft underline near the approximate region to try again.

The experience is designed around dignity and shared practice:

- Use your own book page
- Work with any writing system that forms visible lines
- Listen to the child's short reference before the parent's turn
- See an approximate place to repeat, never a grade or public score
- Move to a different line when practice feels complete
- Reopen the same page on the same device

Everything happens on the device. Lohkat has no account, advertising, analytics, social feed, or cloud speech service. It does not transcribe, translate, rank, or diagnose anyone's reading.

The camera permission is requested only when you choose to photograph a page. The microphone permission is requested only when a voice turn begins. The parent's raw attempt is discarded after local analysis. The child's playable reference stays in memory for the current session; only non-reversible acoustic features can be retained locally for the selected line. “Clear this book” removes the current page and its local practice data.

Lohkat is a calm shared tool for families practising one line at a time, in the language and book that matter to them.
